Childhood apraxia of speech evaluation and therapy in Magnolia, TX (near The Woodlands and Tomball) is available at Thrive Speech Therapy's Magnolia clinic. We offer formal CAS evaluations, diagnosis, and individualized therapy for children from 18 months through 16 years. You do not need to identify a diagnosis before asking our team for help.
Understanding the next step
Childhood apraxia of speech, or CAS, affects the planning and coordination of the movements needed for speech. Families may notice speech that is difficult to understand, inconsistent sound errors, or difficulty putting sounds and syllables together. These concerns can have different explanations, so an individualized evaluation matters.
At Magnolia, a licensed speech-language pathologist assesses your child's speech and language and considers motor-speech features when CAS is suspected. The evaluation helps determine whether the findings are consistent with CAS and what support may be appropriate.
What the evaluation includes
We begin with a conversation about your child's history, communication, and your family's concerns. The therapist uses age-appropriate speech and language assessment and reviews motor-speech features when indicated. The process is individualized to your child.
After the evaluation, the therapist explains the findings and next steps in plain language. You receive recommendations and a family-centered treatment plan when therapy is appropriate. This gives you an opportunity to ask questions and understand the purpose of the proposed goals.
Individualized therapy at Magnolia
Our Magnolia clinic provides individualized CAS therapy and weekly speech-language care. Therapy is tailored to the child and may include structured practice to support speech motor learning, speech clarity, and functional communication. Our team also offers intensive therapy options; contact the Magnolia team to discuss whether an option is appropriate and currently available.
We partner with families so goals connect with daily communication. Your therapist can discuss strategies to support your child between visits and review progress as part of the individualized plan. We do not promise a fixed outcome or the same course of care for every child.
