Specialized childhood apraxia care

Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor-speech disorder that can make it difficult for a child to plan and coordinate the movements needed for speech. Because unclear speech can have many causes, an evaluation by a qualified speech-language pathologist is important. At Magnolia, Thrive can provide a formal evaluation, discuss whether the findings support an apraxia diagnosis, and build an individualized treatment plan.

Therapy may focus on accurate movement patterns, sound sequences, syllables and words, with repeated practice matched to the child’s communication needs. Recommendations are individualized; no specific outcome or timeline is guaranteed.

Not sure whether it is apraxia? Families do not need to identify the diagnosis before calling. Tell our team what you are noticing, and we can help determine the most appropriate evaluation.

Signs families may notice

What to expect

  • Conversation about your child’s history and communication
  • Age-appropriate speech and language assessment
